Hand-picked harvest precedes secondary selection.
The harvest is placed in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats fitted with integrated micro-oxygenation equipment, guaranteeing ideal extraction. The saignée – or 'bleeding' – method is performed as necessary. Alcoholic fermentation is left to occur in the steel vats, but before malolactic fermentation is allowed to take place, the juices – still separated by variety – are transferred to new oak barrels. Aging is conducted over the course of 15 months and blending takes place upon completion of this process. Before the wine is bottled, egg whites are used in a process of light fining. The final product is left unfiltered.
Color : Nuances of deep purple with brilliant reflections for this Lucullus 2012.
Nose : An introductory swirl releases its aromatic intensity, typical of wines from this vintage, with deep aromas of peony, blackberry, blackcurrant and hints of vanilla and iris.
Palate : This wine's attack is mellow with a well-coated tannic structure and delicious notes of licorice and flowers. The elegant finish with refreshing chalky tannins is typical of this great calcareous soil.
As a young wine, placement in carafe two to three hours prior to serving. To be served at 15-17°C.
